As part of attending Touro, I often hear about customs that are kept in the 'litvish world'. One such custom is during the days of aseres yemei teshuva, everyone keeps chalav yisrael. Some moshul is given saying they want to 'look their best for Hashem'. I love this moshul because it essentially says, "I'm too lazy to do the right thing all year, at least for 10 days out of the year I'll do the right thing". If it truly is the right thing, why wouldn't they do it all year round? And if it isn't, why keep to it during these ten days??
It's called philosophical incoherence.
